Hima wins, struggles with time

Dhing Express Hima Das added another golden feather to her cap after winning gold in women's 200m with a top finish at the Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland on Sunday but she struggled with time

It is Hima's second international gold in a week. In her first competitive 200m race of the year, last week at Poznan, Poland, Hima had clocked 23.65s on her way to gold. Vismaya had finished third in that meet with a personal best time of 23.75. However at Poznan Hima and Vismaya enjoyed a headwind of +1.1, said the IAAF.

Last night at Kutno Hima clocked 23.97 seconds to clinch the gold easily but could not improve her time as she .32 microsecond slower.

Meanwhile, the International Olympic Committee(IOC) has released the Qualifying time for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

In the 200 M (Women) category the qualifying timing is 22.80 secs. Hima Das is now hovering around 23.70 sec in that category. She has almost a year to reduce it by one full second.

Because of the back injury, Hima Das has so far competed only in the 200 M category and the team management have not yet put her in the 400 m track where she has excelled in the Asian Games with a timing of 50.79 in Jakarta Asian games.

The 400m (W) qualifying marks for Tokyo Olympic 51.35 and Hima has a relastic chance of making it to the Tokyo Olympics as she has been running faster than that. But in the International Amateur Atghletic Federation data base, her rank in 400 m is 49 at this moment. The top 32 will qualify for Olympic.
