Himanta Inaugurates COVID Testing Lab at GMCH

Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday inaugurated another COVID-19 testing laboratory at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

With the new testing center, Assam has now 12 testing laboratories for COVID-19 including three in GMCH.

Inauguratingthe COVID Testing Center at GMCH, the health minister said that the TargetedSurveillance Drive will be started from today in 12 places in Guwahati.

The rapid testshave been targeted for those who are working in hotels, hospitals, dhabas etc.

50,000 testswill be conducted from June 17 to June 27 as the health department hassuspected that the cases of COVID-19 are increasing as the truck drivers areentering the state from outside and that the travelers are quarantined athotels, the hotel staffs will be tested.
