Successive governments in Pakistan did not tell the truth tothe United States, in particular in the last 15 years

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday made a startling revelation during his three-day visit to the United States that his country still has about 40 different militant groups who have been operating within its borders.

At an event in the US, Imran Khan said, "before his Pakistan government came into power, the governments did not have the political will to act against terror groups operating in the country."

Khan also said that before his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government cameinto power, the governments did not have the 'political will' to disarmmilitant groups operating on their soil.

There was a watershed inPakistani politics. In 2014, the Pakistani Taliban slaughtered 150 schoolchildren at Army Public School. All the political parties signed the National ActionPlan and we all decided after that, that we will not allow any militant groupsto operate inside Pakistan,' Khan said.

"Until we came into power, the governments did not have the politicalwill, because when you talk about militant groups we still have about30,000-40,000 armed people who have been trained and fought in some part ofAfghanistan or Kashmir," he revealed.

He also claimed that previous governments were not in control and didnot tell the US about the exact "truth on the ground."He also admitted that the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed wasoperating in India.

Even before the Pulwama terrorist attack in which an Armyconvoy of 40 Indian security forces were attacked by a car bomb, Pakistan haddecided to disarm "all militant groups" and all the political parties hadbacked it, he added.
