Member Secretary of Sports and Youth Welfare, Department of Assam, Lakhya Konwar on Wednesday said that India will give a tough challenge to Oman seeing the environment of Guwahati in the qualifying match between India and Oman to be held at Sarusajai Stadium on September 5.
Addressing a press conference, Konwar said that encouraging tickets have been sold for the match and that 65 percent of tickets have been sold out both through online and offline mode.
Konwar also said that people from outside the state will also come to watch the match. The Chief Minister also takes stock of the match and that he will visit the stadium on Wednesday to take stock of everything.
He further informed that the coach of Indian team has expressed satisfaction after examining the stadium himself.
Konwar also stated that the captain of the Indian team will also hold a discussion with the sports department of Assam government and will talk about a week long practice session in the stadium. The team will also organize a camp in Guwahati and players from different academy will be able to watch the matches.
