ISL 6: NEUFC begins preparation


For the upcoming season of Indian Super League (ISL), the NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) begins their pre-season under Head Coach Robert Jarni. The players have started training at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium last week.

It may be mentioned here that NEUFC had made it to the first ever ISL semi-finals last season. Following the performance in last season, the team has entrusted Robert Jarni as the Head Coach to lead the team in this season.

Jarni played for the biggest European clubs like Real Madrid and Juventus. As a coach, he has managed teams like Hajduk Split and the Croatian National Youth Teams (U-19 and U-20).

According to NEUFC management, they have retained midfielder Federico Gallego and recruited prolific Argentinian Striker Maximiliano Barreiro to lead the line this season. 21-year-old Uruguayan Martin Chaves will join them in forming an attacking trio.

Meanwhile, the team will fly to the UAE on the 6th of September 2019 to continue their preparation for the upcoming season. In their first match, NEUFC will face defending champions Bengaluru FC on the 21st of October 2019 in Bengaluru.
