Israeli PM Netanyahu wins record fifth term

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has won the General Elections for the record fifth time. The Israelis on Tuesday voted in the country’s most closely fought election in years.

“I am very excited tonight. This is a night of tremendous victory. I was very moved that the nation of Israel entrusted me for the fifth time and with even greater trust,” said 69-year-old Benjamin Netanyahu after the elections results were announced.

He has been the dominant force in Israeli politics for the past two decades and its face to the world. Indian Prime Minister congratulated Netanyahu and tweeted, “You are a great friend of India, and I look forward to continuing to work with you to take our bilateral partnership to new heights.”
