JapaneseEncephalitis claimed one more in Mariani under Jorhat district on Sunday. Thedeceased Bikramjyoti Gogoi was undergoing treatment at Jorhat Mission Hospital.
138people have died due to JE in Assam till Sunday since January while the totalnumber of JE positive cases stood at 593 across various districts in the State.
However,the health department said that the number of cases of JE has come down in thelast couple of days as the season has come to an end. Moreover, two JE deathcases, one each Goalpara and Morigaon districts have been reported on Saturday.
Accordingto health official, 25-30 cases were reported on daily basis during the peakseason but now the cases of JE have dropped to 8-10 as the season has gone. Theofficial said that in the next one week, the cases of JE will be declinedsignificantly though one or two cases might be reported.
