Congress demands resignation of NCHAC’s Chief Exe. Member Debolal Gorlosa

The Dima Hasao District Congress Committee (DCC) on Tuesday demand immediate resignation of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council's chief executive member Debolal Gorlosa.

The Gauhati High Court on 25th June ordered for trial against Gorlosa and five other accused in the lower court in connection with the killing of former executive member (EM) Nindu Langthasa and former CEM Purnendu Langthasa.

Militants of the Jewel Gorlosa faction of the Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) killed the duo in the remote Dimasa settlement of Langlai Hasnu, 65 km from the district headquarters town of Haflong, around 1.30 pm on June 4, 2007.

After the prosecution sanction received from state home department, police have submitted the chargesheet against Gorlosa in the district and session judge of Haflong under sections 121 and 121(A) of IPC for waging war against the nation.

"After charge-sheeted and facing trial how can Debolal Gorlosa remain in such a prestigious position, he should immediately resign and the governor should immediately suspend him like earlier as he directly appoints Gorlosa as CEM," said Kalijoy Sengyung, vice president DCC.

Sengyung also criticized state BJP president Ranjit Das and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for remaining silent after Gorlosa has been charged sheeted. The court will also hear the case of the killing of APBn Constable Habibur Rehman on August 4.
