The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Times of India Group, the organizer of the filmfare awards ceremony on November 25.

The Filmfare Awards are a set of awards that honour artisticand technical excellence in the Hindi-language film industry of India. TheFilmfare ceremony is one of the most prestigious film events in the world. Theawards were first introduced by The Times Group in 1954, the same year as theNational Film Awards.

According to ATDC Chairman Jayanta Malla Barua the solepurpose of holding the Filmfare Awards function in Guwahati is to promoteAssam's huge tourism potential by involving Bollywood. He said since the Statewill give all logistics to the organizer, the event will highlight Assam as oneof the best tourism destinations in India.
