The National InvestigationAgency (NIA) on Thursday filed a charge sheet against two members of theproscribed ULFA (Independent) in connection with 2018 Tinsukia killings.
"Today (28/11/2019), NIA has filed Charge Sheet before the NIA Special Court, Guwahati, against accused Bubul Moran @ Tiger Asom, aged 26 years, r/o Distt Tinsukia and Binanda Dahotiya @ Swadesh aged 24 years, r/o Distt Tinsukia, Assam in RC-09/2018/NIA/GUW (ULFA Case) under sections 120B, 121, 121A, 302 and 307 of IPC, sections 25(1A) and 27 of the Arms Act and sections 10, 16(1)(a), 18, 20, 23(1), 38 and 39 of the UA(P) Act" : NIA said in a statement.
The investigation established that this terrorist act was committed by active members of the proscribed organization ULFA as part of a pre-planned conspiracy. The investigation has unearthed the conspiracy hatched by accused persons and their associates/leaders. The investigation further revealed that the arrested accused persons along with others in pursuance of this conspiracy came from Myanmar to India, then from Arunachal to Assam-Sadiya specifically to Bichanimukh Kherbari village, armed with assault weapons. Both the accused are members of the proscribed organization ULFA and had been carrying out various illegal and criminal activities on behalf of ULFA such as extortion, kidnapping, and murder in the region with an aim to wage war against India and attack the sovereignty and integrity of India.
Further investigation inthe case is continuing against other accused.
2018 Tinsukia killings
In the evening of 1November 2018, six or seven Bengali Hindu youths were relaxing at a shop andplaying ludo in the Kherbari village. Around 8-30 PM IST five or sixunidentified gunmen arrived at the spot and rounded up the youths. They weretaken to the banks of the Brahmaputra river, about six kilometers from theDhola-Sadiya bridge. The gunmen forced the youths to sit on a line. At around8:55 PM IST the gunmen opened fire on the youths from a point blank range. Fiveout of the seven people died on the spot. The two critically injured survivorswere rushed to the hospital.
