Leaders salute “Guardians Of The Sea” on Navy Day

Navy Day is being celebrated today. The day is celebrated in honour of the maritime force’s role during the war with Pakistan in 1971 when Indian warships attacked Karachi port and successfully hurt Pakistani operations in the western coast.

The  Day is also celebrated to highlight the role the Navy plays in securing the country’s marine borders during peacetime and carrying out humanitarian missions.

Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lamba addressing a press conference on the eve of Navy day in New Delhi yesterday, said, that the Indian Navy is the net security provider in the Indian Ocean region and is fully capable to meet the traditional and non-traditional threats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that “India is grateful to the Navy”. “Navy Day greetings to all valorous personnel of the Indian Navy and their families. India is grateful to our Navy for protecting the nation and the commendable role the Navy plays during disaster relief,” he wrote.

President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted, “On Navy Day, my good wishes to all men and women of the Indian Navy. Nation is proud of your commitment to protecting our maritime frontiers, securing our trade routes, and providing assistance in times of humanitarian emergencies #PresidentKovind”.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted, “I salute our Navy personnel for the impregnable spirit, devotion with which they serve & protect our Motherland.”
