Two trucks carrying construction materials for the controversial Subansiri Lower Dam located in Dhemaji district and Lower Subansiri district were blocked by members of AJYCP at Uriyagaon in Nagaon tonight.
The materials, while being carried from the warehouse at Sensua to the constructed site at night, were stopped from being transported further at Nagaon's Urigaon.
The agitators accused that the government with the help of Administration and Police were trying to transport those materials surreptitiously at night to avoid any public attention.
They also accused the Central and State governments of completely ignoring the dangers associated with the dam, and going ahead with its construction regardless of the consequences.
In videos from the site, few agitators were heard saying that they won't allow the trucks to carry the materials, come what may.
They even looked helpless and dismayed at the alleged lackadaisical outlook adopted by the government to their concerns regarding the project, which they claim will open the Pandora's box for districts like Dhemaji and Lakhimpur.
