Majuli student develops ‘Bicycle’; runs on Fuel

With the provisions of the new Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019 coming into effect from September 1, 2019, those breaking traffic rules have shell out heavier fines and stricter penalties. In these times, a student of Department of Physics Guninda Krishna Mahanta from Majuli has developed a cycle that runs on fuel. The bicycle runs at up to 26 km (per litre petrol).

Speaking with Pratidin Time, he said,“I discussed my idea with my parents who encouraged me a lot and helped me out with equipment to carry out experiments.”

Long before his efforts paid off, he worked very hard with the little resources he had. Despite many failures, he kept trying. When he rode the bicycle for a few kilometres one day, he realised his attempts had finally started to pay off.

“The making charge of the cycle costs around 21,000/-“, Guninda said.
