Guwahati police on Saturday evening arrested one named Suleiman Ibrahim Ali (30) in connection with Panbazar PS case no 341/18 for opening fake Facebook accounts in the name of many senior police officers.
Ali,a resident of Anupam Path in Sijubari was arrested from his home and police recovered a total of 47 mobile phones, 13 tabs, 15 sim cards and other gadgets from him through a prompt operation by officers of city police Crime Branch.
He is being interrogated by the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati and other senior officers. He has admitted to have opened as many as 17 fake FB accounts in the name of senior police officers. Recovered phones and sim cards also reveal that he made many ISD calls.
Efforts are on to unearth if any large scale conspiracy behind it. The arrest id considered to be a big breakthrough against cyber crime in the city.
