Bewareof strangers, especially those who offer you soft drinks and other sweet treatsas they could be spiked with a sedative that knocks you out cold before you arerobbed of your belongings. In a sensational incident, a man was drugged androbbed by miscreants in Dispur area in the city on Saturday. The man was foundunconscious over the Ganeshguri flyover. He was later admitted to DispurHospital.
Accordingto reports, the man identified as Arbind Das withdrew Rs. 60 thousand in cashfrom the Dispur SBI office in the morning. After Arbind came out of the SBIoffice in front of Secretariat, a man offered him soft drinks.
"Arbindremembers only drinking some soft drinks and when he regained consciousness hewas at Dispur Hospital," said a Dispur Police officer. Arbind found that Rs.60,000 cash was missing from his bag.
"These criminals do not know the proper doses or the effects of these drugs. The victims of such cases feel very drowsy and they suffer from a temporary loss of memory, amnesia and other complications that could even lead to death," said a medical officer.
