Masood Azhar’s brother, the mastermind of major attacks in India

Along with Jaish-e-Mohammed Chief Masood Azhar, his younger brother the the operational chief of JeM, Abdul Rauf Asghar is also among India's top five 'most wanted' terrorists.

It was none other than Abdul who was behind the hijacking of IC-814 Indian Airlines commercial flight in 1999 to compel India to  release his elder brother Masood. It may be noted that he was only 24 years old when he executed the hijack.

Since then Abdul, known as Mufti,  has been planning every major Jaish attack in India, such as he 2001 fidayeen attacks on J&K assembly and Parliament, 2016 Pathankot IAF base attack, attacks on Nagrota and Kathua camps and the recent Pulwama attack that claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel.

In the absence of JeM chief, who frequently falls ill, Abdul takes all the decisions for the outfit, according to India Intelligence agencies.
