Minor boy dies of Japanese Encephalitis

Amid the outbreak of coronavirus infection, there has been a spike in the cases of Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JE). A minor boy succumbed to JE on Wednesday evening.

Eight-year-old Jitu Karmakar passed away at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital. The deceased belonged to Bagbisuti village in Tezpur.

A recent data issued by the state's National Health Mission states 331 Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) cases and 48 deaths which include 148 Non-JE Cases, 24 Non-JE Deaths, and 183 JE Cases, 24 JE Deaths.
