Mamata Banerjee led ‘United India Rally’ today

Challenging Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Bharatiya janata party (BJP) chief Amit Saha, a mega rally for the grand alliance of the opposition parities named 'United India Rally' is being held in Kolkata today. The rally is spearheaded by Tranamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Bannerjee.

The rally has been called to bring together the opposition parties and vanquish the center led BJP government in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

The rally will be attended by BJP member Shatrughna Sinha who have been against Narendra Modi. Minister of Communications and Information Technology in the Vajpayee Ministry, Arun Shourie and Former Minister of Finance Yashwant Sinha will take part in the rally.

Former chief ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Akhilesh Yadav and Gegong Apang will attend the meeting. Congress President Rahul Gandhi who wont be present at the rally has also extended his support and has send a letter to Mamta Bannerjee.

All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badaruddin Ajmal will also take part in the rally. Chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, Karnataka CM H D Kumaraswamy and Gujarat's Youth leader Hardik Patel, Jignesh Mewan will be attending the meeting. Samajwadi leader Akhilesh Yadav, NCP leader Sharat yadav will also be present at the rally.

The Trinamool supporters and workers who arrived from various corners of the state have been put up in the outskirts of the city and in some auditoriums and stadiums.

Security have been tightened to prevent any untoward incident around the venue for the mega rally, Brigade Parade Ground.
