NE DGPs Meet To Check Crimes
The Directors General of Police (DGPs) of the Northeastern states that meeting held at Imphal discusses issues relating to drug trafficking, illegal trades, human trafficking and counter-insurgency operations.
Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia chaired the meeting saying that they are committed to take the regional collaboration to greater heights.
In a tweet, Saikia said, “Chaired the meeting on Regional Cooperation of DGPs of NE States in Imphal.”
In another tweet where he states about the issues discussed in the meeting, Saikia said, “Issues such as illegal drug trafficking, illegal trades, human trafficking and counter-insurgency ops were discussed in the meeting.”
He further said that they are committed to take the regional collaboration to greater heights.
According to a media report which quoted Saikia said, “Focus was laid on supply reduction as well as demand reduction of narcotics. Human trafficking was another issue taken up. A decision was taken to rope in a research organization to conduct a study on the causes, networks and routes.”
Apart from drug trafficking and human trafficking, the other issues discussed were cattle smuggling which is rising unabated in Assam as well as in the neighboring states and other inter-state crimes like coal and supari syndicate.
