01. Assam: Inter-District Travelling Allowed On July 30 & 31

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority issued an order on Wednesday evening stating inter-district movement of citizens is allowed on July 30 and 31 within the state following social distancing protocols and adhering to the COVID-19 regulations as published in the various guidelines by the government. However, the above permission is not allowed for the containment zones.

02. Jal Shakti Ministry To Release 346 Cr For Assam Flood Relief

Union Minister of Jal Shakti ministry Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday has assured Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal a financial aid for the devastating flood of rupees 346 crores for flood relief to the state. Furthermore, the ministry will discuss the flood situation in lower Assam with the Bhutan government at the earliest

03. Baghjan Fire: Technical Explosion Injures Three Foreign Experts

Three foreign experts engaged in the capping of Well number 5 at Baghjan got badly injured today due to a technical glitch leading to an explosion. The three injured are Anthony Steven Reynolds, Doug Dallas, Craig Neil Duncan. They are from M/s Alert Disaster Control company. They have been rushed to Aastha Hospital, Dibrugarh.

04. Gold Prices Cross Rs 50,000 For First Time

Gold prices in India touched a new high of Rs 50,010 per 10 gram after gaining Rs 192 on Wednesday. Tracking gold, silver prices also saw surge in demand, climbing to 6.06% to Rs 61, 130 per kg. This is the first time gold prices have breached Rs 50,000-mark in the futures market. In global markets, spot gold prices rose 1.3% to $1,865.81 an ounce, the highest in almost nine years.

06. India Gets "World's Most Agile" Drone To Counter China

In the midst of the face-off between India and China, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has reportedly offered its indigenously-developed drone "Bharat" to the Indian Army for accurate surveillance along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh. Bharat, indigenously developed by a Chandigarh-based laboratory of DRDO, is among "world's most agile and lightest surveillance drone."

07. Don't Expect First COVID-19 Vaccinations Until Early 2021: WHO Expert

Researchers are making "good progress" in developing vaccines against COVID-19, with a handful in late-stage trials, but their first use cannot be expected until early 2021, a World Health Organization (WHO) expert Mike Ryan said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked US firms to invest in India, promising growth in various sectors including infrastructure, aviation, defence and space research. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday informed the highest ever recoveries of 28,472 have been registered in a single day to date. This is also the highest number of COVID-19 patients cured/discharged in the last 24 hours.
