02. Pranab Mukherjee On Ventilator Support After Successful Surgery

Former President Pranab Mukherjee has been put on ventilator support after undergoing brain surgery at the Army Research and Referral hospital, where he was admitted on Monday morning after testing positive for coronavirus disease (Covid-19). Officials informed that the former president underwent a successful brain surgery for removal of clot.

03. COVID-19 Ailing, Unconscious Patient Dies In TMCH

A coronavirus infected patient died after losing consciousness on Monday at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH). The deceased identified as Anup Tamuli belonging from Phulbari in Balipara was admitted to TMCH on Sunday after testing positive for COVID-19.

04. UGC Final-Year Exams: SC To Hear Plea On Aug 14

The Supreme Court on Monday instructed the University Grants Commission (UGC) time to respond to Delhi and Maharashtra governments' affidavits saying they have cancelled exams, citing disaster management guidelines amid the coronavirus outbreak. The next hearing is scheduled for 14 August.

05. Meghalaya Faces Shortage Of Over 100 Doctors

Amid the outbreak of coronavirus infection and with numbers of active cases increasing in the state of Meghalaya, Health Services director Aman War stated there is a huge crisis of doctors in the state. War was quoted saying to the news agency PTI, "There is a shortage of more than 100 doctors as per the present vacant posts. The health department could not even get 50 doctors to appoint on a contractual basis for tackling the COVID-19 situation".

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday slammed the Centre over the draft Environment Impact Assessment (EIA), saying it must be withdrawn to stop "environmental destruction". "EIA 2020 draft must be withdrawn to stop #LootOfTheNation and environmental destruction," Gandhi tweeted.

07. Bajali To Be Constituted As Assam's 34th District

Bajali will become the 34th district of Assam. Ten officials have been appointed in the newly formed district and 85 new posts have been created for the functioning of the district administration.

Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. His driver has also been infected with the virus. However, his security guards have been tested negative of the virus.

09. Kerala Landslide: Death Toll At 49

The death tally of the tragic Kerala landslide at a tea estate has escalated to 49 in Rajamalai in the Idukki district of Kerala on Monday. Six more bodies were recovered, according to the data of Idukki district collector H Dineshan.

12.  University Exams Cancelled: Delhi Govt

The Delhi Government on Monday informed the Supreme Court that the universities of Delhi Government have cancelled its examinations. The government has filed a reply in the Supreme Court in response to a petition challenging UGC guidelines mandating to conduct the final year exams by universities by September 30.

The Government of Assam has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Air passengers who depart from Assam within 72 hours of arrival saying that they need not have to undergo quarantine following certain conditions.
