01. Assam-Mizo Border: Ajmal Urges CM To Take Control Of Situation

As simmering tension continues to prevail on the Assam-Mizoram border after a violent clash erupted between the people of the two states, AIUDF President Badaruddin Ajmal has called for maintaining peace and harmony in the region. In view of the incident, Ajmal requested Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the Union home ministry to take control of the situation by tomorrow.

02. Doordarshan To Telecast 'Lal-Rekha', A Series On Assam's Freedom Struggle

Under the banner of Kamalashri Films Pvt Ltd, national broadcaster Doordarshan will be telecasting a serial named 'Lal-Rekha' based on the backdrop of the freedom struggle and valor of anonymous Assam revolutionaries who significantly contributed to the country's independence in 1947. Set to release on October 31, the series is produced and directed by Dilip Sonkar and will be telecasted at 7pm on weekends.

03. Samujjal Bhattacharya To Quit AASU

Chief advisor of AASU Samujjal Bhattacharya, during a public session on Sunday, said that he will resign from the association during the union meeting in Duliajan scheduled to be held in November. Bhattacharya, who was on a two-month break due to health issues, made the revelation while speaking at a meeting in their Guwahati office.

05. Hojai: Truck Catches Fire

A truck caught fire all of a sudden on the Dabaka national highway on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred at the Ganipur bypass in Hojai district. Teams of three firefighting teams are present to douse the fire.

06. COVID-19: Assam's Recovery Rate Improves To 85.37%

Assam recorded 642 active coronavirus cases out of 23129 tests conducted on Saturday while 818 cured patients were discharged. The recovery rate of the state has improved to 85.37 per cent. There has been a consistent rise in the number of recoveries made in the state with over 1.7 lakh cured cases.

07. Rajasthan: Arms Act Convict Escapes Covid-19 Ward

A 32-year old man who was sent to judicial custody in an Arms Act case escaped from a COVID-19 isolation ward of a hospital in Rajasthan's Bundi. According to the police as reported by NDTV, Lakhan Bawari fled the hospital on Saturday night. Bawari, who was arrested under the Arms Act on Thursday, was remanded to judicial custody by a court the very next day.

08. BrahMos Missile Successfully Test Fired

India successfully test fired the supersonic cruise missile BrahMos from the navy's indigenously-built stealth destroyer on Sunday, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said a statement. BrahMos as a 'prime strike weapon' will ensure the warship's invincibility by engaging naval surface targets at long ranges, thus making the destroyer another lethal platform of Indian Navy, the DRDO said.

09. Paytm Charges 2% Fee On Credit Cards

Paytm users will now be charged with a 2 per cent fee on the amount added to their e-wallet when using a credit card, a PTI report stated. "Until now, users had to pay 2 per cent fee if they loaded more than Rs. 10,000 in their e-wallets via credit card in a month," it said.

10. Afghanistan: 12 Dead, Over 100 Injured In Car Bomb Attack

Atleast 12 civilians were killed and more than 100 were wounded on Sunday after a car bomb targeting an Afghan police headquarters exploded in Feroz Koh area of Ghor province. According to Ministry of Interior, the car bomb detonated in front of Ghor police headquarters at about 11:00 am.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Saturday has won a landslide victory in the country's general elections, earning her a second term in the office. The Labor party scored its greatest result in 50 years. In a rare parliamentary majority, Ardern's centre-left party won 49.1%, bringing a projected 64 seats.

The home delivery facility of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders will undergo a massive transformation across India from November 1 onwards. 14. India Ranks 94/107 Nations In Global Hunger Index

India ranked 94 among 107 nations in the Global Hunger Index 2020 and is in the 'serious' hunger category, a PTI report stated. Last year, India's rank was 102 out of 117 countries. According to the report, 14 per cent of India's population is undernourished.

15. Pulwama: CRPF Jawan Wounded In Grenade Attack

A CRPF jawan was injured in a grenade explosion in Pulwama district district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, police said. Militants threw a grenade on CRPF personnel near Tral bus stand in Pulwama district of South Kashmir, a police official said.
