02. ASI Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe In Hotel

In yet another act of corruption, an Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was caught red-handed taking bribe in a hotel located in Morigaon on Monday. According to sources, the ASI was identified as one Pankaj Bora. He was caught red-handed by the anti-corruption branch when he was taking a bribe of Rs 4000 from a family of a woman who disappeared last week. It is to mention that Bora initially demanded Rs 10,000 to find the missing woman.

03. 3 Dead, 9 Injured In Boko Accident

In a tragic incident on Monday, three people were killed and nine injured in a head-on collision accident between a bike and a traveller vehicle in Boko's Bandapara. According to sources, both bike borne persons as well as a passenger in the traveller vehicle were killed on the spot.

04. SI Exam Scam: Huge Sum Of Money Recovered In Bongaigaon

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Monday, in connection to CID PS Case No 21/2020, recovered a sum of Rs 9,95,000 from a locker in Punjab National Bank (PNB), Bongaigaon. According to sources, the account belongs to SI exam scam accused Debraj Das. He led the CID sleuths to the PNB locker in Bongaigaon after being interrogated.

05. Assam: Cinema Halls To Not Reopen Until Nov 13

Cinema halls in Assam will not reopen until November 13, said the cinema hall owners association on Monday. It was earlier scheduled to reopen after the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) were issued by the state government. The Centre allowed the states to reopen theatres from October 15 but the cinema halls in Assam hadn't reopened without the guidelines issued by the government.

06. 3 Govt Officers Arrested In Alleged Rice Scam

The Bureau of Investigations Economic Offences (BIEO) on Monday arrested three government officials in Guwahati for their involvement in an alleged rice scam. While one of the accused Lakheswar Saikia is a chief commercial manager of Northeast Frontier Railways, the other two accused namely Dhirimba Hazarika and Tilak Chandra Bhattacharya are officers of the Food Corporation Of India (FCI).

07. Assam-Mizoram Border Row: CM Sonowal Apprises PM

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and make him aware of the ongoing situation in the Assam-Mizoram border tension. Chief Minister Sonowal informed the PM about his discussion with Mizoram CM Zoramthanga and the steps taken by the Assam Government to diffuse tension at the border.

08. Senior Journalist Khagen Kalita Joins Congress

Senior Journalist Khagen Kalita joined Congress on Monday at Rajiv Bhawan in the presence of party leader Pradyut Bordoloi and Ripun Bora. Other than Kalita, around 600 BJP workers also joined the Congress today. BJP worker of Jagiroad constituency Swapan Mandal also joined Congress along with other members. Mandal is the Vice-President of All Assam Anusuchit Jati Unnayan Parishad.

09. Assam-Mizoram Border Row: CM Sonowal Speaks To Amit Shah

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had a telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to make aware of the ongoing situation in the Assam-Mizoram border. Earlier, the chief minister also spoke to Mizoram CM Zoramthanga over the border strife that occurred in Cachar in the Assam-Mizoram border.

10. Assam Registers 698 New COVID-19 Cases

Assam recorded 698 active coronavirus cases out of 34956 tests conducted on Monday while 1530 cured patients were discharged. The recovery rate of the state has improved to 85.55 percent. Currently, there are 27319 active cases with 13.56%. The positivity rate has slightly decreased to 2 %.

11. "Will Implement CAA Soon" – BJP Prez

BJP national president JP Nadda on Monday said that the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be executed soon. He made the statement during meeting of social groups in north Bengal on Monday.

12. India, US To Sign BECA Deal

Amid an ongoing conflict with China, India is expected to sign the Basic Exchange Cooperation Agreement (BECA) deal with the United States of America for geospatial cooperation between the two countries. The defence and foreign ministers of both the countries will sign the agreement during a 2+2 dialogue scheduled to be held on October 26-27 in New Delhi.

13. Chinese Soldier Apprehended In Ladakh

A Chinese soldier has reportedly been captured near Demchok area in Ladakh on early, several news outlets said on Monday. The Chinese soldier was captured 300km south of Pangong Lake, according to the news reports. A TV Today report said the soldier is reportedly in the custody of the Indian Army and Indian agencies are probing whether there was any involvement of spying.

14. BARC Flays Republic TV For Disclosing Private Communication

TV viewership rating agency BARC India has accused Republic TV of misrepresentation of confidential communication, claiming of not commenting on the ongoing investigation on manipulation of ratings. Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) via an official communication said, "cooperating with the law enforcement agencies in their ongoing investigation in the Television Rating Points (TRP) manipulation case".

15. India To Start Intranasal Vaccine Trials

Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech would be pursuing late stage clinical trials of intranasal COVID-19 vaccines once they receive regulatory approval, union health minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said. The late-stage trial will likely involve thousands of participants, varying from 30,000 to 40,000.
