Pak Expresses Concern Over Its Citizens in Kashmir

Pakistan expressed concern over the security of its citizens in Jammu and Kashmir after the Government of India's historic decision of abrogating Articles 370 and 35A in the state. Pakistan termed Narendra Modi government's decision as illegal.

PakistanArmed Forces Spokesperson, Asif Ghafoor, while speaking to news agency Sputnikover the situation arising in the terror-affected state, in the aftermath ofthe decision said that his country has all the necessary security provisions inthe place to ensure the protection of its people in Kashmir.

Ghafoorwhile quoted by Sputnik said that Pakistan has all its safeguards in place. "Pakistanshall take all necessary measures and continue to stand firmly with the justcause of oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir to get their right toself-determination as per the UNSC resolutions," said Ghafoor.

Article370 was revoked by President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday while the Upper House ofthe Parliament voted 125-61 on Monday, with one absentee to approve theconstitutional amendment.

The Billwill be tabled in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday where it is expected to pass easilywith BJP enjoying a comfortable majority in the Lower House.

The centralgovernment, shortly after announcing the decision on Jammu and Kashmir sent additional8,000 troops to the valley, in addition to a contingent of more than 35,000already deployed there.

Moreover,in a statement, the Pakistan Foreign Office strongly condemned and rejected themove of the Government of India, stressing that Kashmir was internationallyrecognized as a disputed territory.
