Pakistan train fire: Death toll rises to 65


The death toll in the horrific Pakistan train fire has increased to 65 with dozens of people sustaining serious injuries.

According to officials, the massive fire caused by a cooking gas stove erupted on Thursday on the Karachi-Rawalpindi Tezgam express train the Liaqatpur area near Rahim Yar Khan city in Pakistan.

The fire broke out when a gas stove exploded as breakfast was being prepared on board. Safety regulations are often ignored in the trains in Pakistan and passengers bring their own gas stoves to cook their meals on the trains. The train was on its way from Karachi to Rawalpindi when the blaze erupted.

Meanwhile, local authorities and Pakistan’s military troops are engaged in the rescue operation of the passengers. Authorities are still trying to identify the victims of the incident.
