A massive scam hasbeen reported from Alopati primary school in Barpeta district as several bagsfull of rice has been seized from the backyards of the school.
It has been suspected that the rice is meant for the mid-day meal and locals alleged that the Principal has thrown away the rice in order to hide the corruption of mid-day meal scheme.
The parents further alleged that the students have not been provided with mid-day meal since six months.
Locals also allegedthat there is no committee of the school and that the Principal is running theschool according to him. It was said that the Principal took the rice that comesfor mid-day meal and the remaining portion of rice which he has not been ableto take with him has been thrown away to hide the corruption that is going onin the name of mid-day meal scheme.
