Shimla blanketed in dust; IMD predicts rains

Shimla had been blanketed in dust on June 16; with temperatures soaring up to 32°C in the nation's hill station.

However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Himachal Pradesh has assured the public of rainfall in the region in the next couple of days.

Director of the state IMD, Manmohan Singh said, "North-westerly winds carried dust to entire North India. Humidity was high in Himachal. With dust, visibility was poor here. Rainfall is expected in next 2 days, it'll clear weather."

The weather department, earlier in the day, had issued warnings of torrential rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and the western Himalayan region.

Due to extreme weather conditions, 26 flights had been cancelled in Chandigarh on Friday.
