CM Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday headed a Cabinet meeting with the state Ministers during which a bevy of decisions were taken in the field of education, film and industry. The meeting was held at Janata Bhawan.
The new State Industrial Policy was approved by the Cabinet which provides interest subsidy on working capital loan and power subsidy amongst other benefits.
The Cabinet also approved the New Film Policy to promote production of films in Assamese and other indigenous languages.
The cabinet also decided to collect Rs. 1 from every ticket for the corpus fund for welfare of all the film artistes.
In a landmark decision, the Cabinet approved growing and cutting of Agar and Chandan trees on non-forest lands. This will promote cultivation of Agar and Chandan in the state.
The Cabinet also approved setting up of an International Trade Centre for Agar in Golaghat.
The Cabinet approved new syllabus for APSC CCE on lines of UPSC. This will help students to take both APSC and UPSC with the same preparation.
The Cabinet decided to give subsidy of Rs 50,000 to students who have taken higher education loans & those who will be taking this year.
The Cabinet approved subsidy of Rs 2.5 lakhs upto a ceiling of Rs 20 lakh under Apunar Apun Ghar scheme.
The Cabinet also approved educational qualification and 2 child norms in Municipal elections in Assam.
The cabinet further decided to amend the Assam Municipal Act to make the Higher Secondary pass as mandatory educational qualification for ward commissioners for general candidates while class 10th pass as mandatory qualification for candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC.
