Thousands paid homage to Vajpayee’s ashes in Guwahati

The ashes of the cremated remains of former Prime Minister and founder president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) , Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been immersed at Brahmaputra river on Thursday at 5 pm.

Earlier, the ashes of the former Prime Minister, was kept at Karbi playground under Assam BJP's aegis in Guwahati's Hengrabari areas where thousands of people paid floral tribute to their beloved leader.

At 1pm , from Hengrabari area, BJP workers had carried out a procession  with the ' Chita Bhasma( ashes of the cremated remains )' of Vajpayee through midst of the city. The procession with ' Chita Bhasma of Vajpayee was ended at Lakchit Park at Fancy Bazar area in Guwahati. At Lachit Park too , thousands of people paid last respect to the  BJP founder president and former Prime Minister.

At Guwahati Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with state BJP president Ranjit Das took the lead role in immersion of the 'chita bhasma'.

Vajpayee 'chita bhasma' was also immersed at three other places of Dhubri , Dibrugarh and Silchar in the state at the same time on Thursday evening.

Assam BJP had made elaborate arrangement to make the Vajpayee ashes immersion affairs a big event in the state. All BJP MLAs, MPs and other leaders of the party attended the ' Chita Bhasma' affairs of the former Prime Minister.
