Traffic violator misbehaves with Journalist

A traffic violator was caught on the camera while physically assaulting a lady journalist (Pratidin Time) during news coverage. It can be clearly seen in the video footage that the traffic violator not only assaulted the journalist but also threatened her of dire consequences.

Taking advantage of heavy rush after the implementation of new traffic regulations, pollution checking centres are issuing certificates without checking vehicles in the state and charging vehicle owners at will.

An inspection conducted by Pratidin Time has exposed that a large number of pollution checking centres in the city are involved in irregularities like fudging the emission report and giving clearance certificates to polluting vehicles for a price.

Since the amended Motor Vehicles Act came into force on September 1, pollution checking centres are witnessing long queues of owners seeking their pollution under check (PUC) certificates. It has also been reported that people obtain PUC certificates even without conducting the tests.

The pollution under control (PUC) certificate, which is mandatory for every vehicle plying on the road, was among the documents which people did not bother to carry. But after the new regulations, commuters are rushing to PUC centers, regional transport offices, and insurance offices to complete their documents.
