Five policemen in Tripura have been suspended from their dutieswithin a spate of few days, with two suspensions being served on Tuesday.
One police constable Pritam Bhowmik was suspended and forwardedto Agartala CJM court on Tuesday in connection with a rape case. Bhowmik was apersonal guard of a VIP in Tripura.
Public Prosecutor Bidyut Sutradhar said that one 31-year oldlady was gang-raped on August 12 on the outskirts of Agartala. The lady waskidnapped from the city and later raped.
Sutradhar further informed that the miscreants tried to kill herby silting her throat after the brutal rape. A case was filed in this regardand during investigation it has come to know that Pritam Bhowmik and NirmalBhattacharjee who were involved in the cruel incident have been arrested andthat Bhowmik was a police constable.
Both the accused were forwarded to Agartala CJM court and laterto police custody.
In another case, Sub-Inspector of Amtali police station wassuspended due to negligence of duty as he was investigating a murder case. On Sunday,CPI(M) worker Nakul Saha was murdered at Nabin Para under Amtali police stationand the case was handled by the SI Maman-Ulla Kaji but due to his negligence induty he has been suspended.
However, locals alleged that one Sanjib Das, the main accused ofthe murder fled from the police custody owing to the negligence of SI Kaji.
According to reports, one traffic inspector Sukanta Biswas wasarrested in connection to the murder of Bodhisattva Das, a bank manager.
Two sub-inspectors Dipanjana Sinha and Mikha Darlong weresuspended last week due to negligence of duty.
Allegations have been made that the duo did not submit thereports on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances cases on time.
