Uncertainty prevails over capping of Baghjan oil well | READ WHY

The oil well is unlikely to be capped by the original date of July 7 as all access roads to the Baghjan well site have either been snapped by flood or damage by rain.

A dry run will be conducted tomorrow but OIL has been hampered as they are not being able to carry heavy cutting equipment as debris around the well mouth have to be cut and cleared, said OIL spokesman.

Rain stopped today but locals have stopped only available access fearing damage to the bridge in that area, reports added.

The Indian Army had joined Indian and foreign experts to draw out a detailed plan and control the flow of gas from the Baghjan oil well and cap it by July 7 after taking necessary precautions.

The Indian Army completed the Pontoon bridge last week and is now assisting the civil administration and the public to rebuild the roads.
