Singer Kailash Kher was allegedly attacked during a concert in Karnataka on Sunday evening, when two men reportedly threw a water bottle at him, demanding to sing a Kannada song.

The singer is known for lending his vocals to songs like Teri Deewani and Chand Sifarish among other popular songs.

The incident took place at the Hampi Utsav, which kickstarted on January 27. The festival is a first of its kind event that is being held since the formation of the new Vijayanagara district. Inaugurated by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai last week, the event has four stages set up - the main one at Gayatri Peeta, Eduru Basavanna Vedike, Hampi Virupaksheshwar Vedike and Sasuvekalu Vedike.

Apart from Kher, singers like Arjun Jannya, Vijaya Prakash, Raghu Dikshit, Anannya Bhath and Arman Mallik are performing at the festival.

Two days before performing at the concert, Kailash Kher was in Lucknow for the three-day Uttar Pradesh Diwas where he sang some beautiful sufi numbers.

Earlier, Kher was in the news as one of his song clips went viral on social media. It showed a Pakistani groom singing ‘Chand Sifarish’ from the movie Fanaa for his bride on their wedding day.
