Theleaders of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Monday chaired a crucial meeting at theAssam Secretariat in Dispur. The AGP leaders discussed about the two RajyaSabha seats which are set to fall vacant next month.

Notably, the Election Commission (EC) is likely to issue a notification soon for holding polls for the two seats. The regional party had supported BJP in 10 LS seats and contested on three seats in the State after both the parties agreed that one of the RS seats would be given to the AGP.

Apart from party president Atul Bora and working president Keshab Mahanta, senior party leaders- Brindaban Goswami, Satyabrat Kalita, Naren Sonowal, Pabindra Deka and Pradip Hazarika were also present in the meeting. However, former CM of Assam and founder president of the party Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was not present in the meeting. The AGP leadership has moved silently to neutralize the Ex-CM after he opposed the alliance with BJP for the LS polls.
