Cyclone Bulbul intensifies over Bay of Bengal

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has saidthat cyclone Bulbul has been gathering intensity over the Bay of Bengal andlikely to turn into a very severe cyclonic storm by Friday night.

The IMD has suggested that cyclone Bulbul will hitOdisha and head towards West Bengal and Bangladesh in the upcoming days. Thecyclone is expected to bring rainfall in coastal West Bengal, Andaman andNicobar Islands, coastal Odisha. The IMD has also advised a complete suspensionof fishing activity from Friday onwards.

Meanwhile, 35 NDRF teams have been assigned to Odishaand West Bengal to combat the cyclone.
