New ‘Inclusive’ Govt To Be Announced Soon: Taliban

In a major development, the Taliban announced that the talks between the outfit and Afghan political leaders are underway on the formation of a new government.

"Our political officials met with leaders here in Kabul, their views are important, discussions are moving, InshaAllah, there is hope for an announcement on the government soon," Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban was quoted as saying in a ToloNews report.

Reports have mentioned that members of the Taliban, former Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai and Head of High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) Abdullah Abdullah discussed on Saturday the current political landscape including the formation of an "inclusive government".

Later in the day, through a Facebook post, the HCNR head confirmed that the Taliban is looking forward to the formation of an inclusive government.

Meanwhile, as many as seven people were killed near Kabul airport on Sunday as a massive crowd attempted to flee the now Taliban-controlled country of Afghanistan. As per reports, the Taliban are preventing people from entering the airport using force. The situation continues to deteriorate at the airport and around its perimeter, which is under Taliban control.
