Petrol and diesel prices in India rose for the ninth day consecutively making fuel more expensive by nearly Rs 5 per litre since June 7.
After nine days of successive price surges, fuel rates arenow at its peak in more than a year. The price of petrol was hiked by 46 paisea litre while that of diesel by 59 paise a litre today.
The fuel price rates have been increased across India and it varies from state to state depending on the incidence of local sales tax or value-added taxes.
The price of petrol in Assam is at Rs 81.3 per litrewhile that of diesel is at 74.5 per litre today.
