Two Indian NGOs receive USD 3 million grants from Google.org

US-based tech giant Google's philanthropic arm Google.org has provided a grant of USD 3 million to two non-profit organizations in India. Following the latest development, Google's total grant to India now stands at USD 11.4 million.

The organisation previously in 2017 provided a grant of USD 8.4 million to four Indian NGOs. The NGOs that received the benefits were Million Sparks Foundation, Learning Equality, Pratham Books – StoryWeaver and Pratham Education Foundation.

Post the funding of the four NGOs last year, grantees have reached out to more than eight lakh students and teachers with their tools and programs across the country. The grants have helped a number of underprivileged students in the country to receive better facilities and education.

Google.org Education Lead Nick Cain said, "We strongly believe that technology can play a powerful part in solving the learning gap in India, and we are expanding our investments in India to ensure that all teachers and students are able to benefit from it".
