Dispur police have registered a case against a food outlet at Guwahati’s City Centre mall following allegations that a customer was served beef noodles instead of chicken noodles. The incident, which has sparked outrage and concern, involves a food stall named K-Food Antenna.
The controversy came to light when the customer, after noticing a change in taste, used Google Translate to scan the packaging—only to discover that the noodles served were beef-based. Shocked by the revelation, the customer lodged an FIR at Dispur Police Station.
Based on the complaint, police have registered Dispur PS Case No. 532/2025 under Sections 299 and 196(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation has been initiated to ascertain whether the substitution was intentional or a case of gross negligence.
The incident has stirred fresh debate around food safety, consumer rights, and religious sensitivities, especially in a state where beef remains a contentious issue. Authorities are currently examining the food outlet’s sourcing, packaging, and menu display for potential violations.
As of now, no arrests have been made.
The outlet, K-Food Antenna, has not issued a public statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, the case has triggered widespread discussion online, with many questioning the oversight mechanisms in place at public food courts.
