12 Rohingya Stranded in Indo-Bangla Border

Twelve Rohingya Muslims who tried to enter into theIndian Territory from Bangladesh on Thursday through Futia village inSipahijala district of Tripura are still stranded along the Indi-Bangla borderin no-man's land.

Speaking to reporters, Border Security Force (BSF)officials said that BSF jawans thwarted the attempt of at least 12 RohingyaMuslims including five children and five women to enter the Indian side.

The official said that the Rohingya Muslims arestill stranded on the zero line. He said that a company commander-level flagmeeting was held two days ago with Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) followedby a battalion commander-level meeting.

The BSF official further stated that during themeeting, the BSF produced many documents, including their identity cards whichwere seized during their attempt to enter India.

The BSF also seized biscuits and cold drinks fromtheir possession which were manufactured in Bangladesh. The officials also saidthat during the past one year, over 250 Rohingya Muslims have been detainedfrom different parts of the Northeast which share a 2,000 km long border withthe neighbouring country.
