In a major initiative to boost Assam’s performance in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has launched a flagship scheme named ‘Pratyasha’, aimed at supporting and mentoring aspirants from the state.
Addressing a press conference at Shaheed Nyas, Uzan Bazar, AASU’s Chief Advisor Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya, President Utpal Sharma, and General Secretary Samiran Phukan announced that the organisation will provide free UPSC coaching and financial assistance to 25 selected candidates from Assam.

-
25 candidates will be selected for financial support to prepare for the UPSC Mains 2025.

Second Phase: Delhi-Based UPSC Training for Northeast Students
In a second phase of the initiative, AASU also plans to sponsor 40 students annually for full-time UPSC coaching in New Delhi. This will include:
These selected aspirants will undergo intensive coaching in Delhi with logistical and academic support coordinated by AASU’s Delhi unit.
AASU’s Commitment to Youth and Civil Services
Speaking at the press meet, Chief Advisor Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya said:
“Through Pratyasha, we want to build a generation of administrators who understand Assam’s grassroots realities and can shape policy from within the system. Our aim is to see more youth from Assam become IAS, IPS, and IFS officers.”
This initiative is seen as a bold step in encouraging Assam’s youth to join the civil services, especially given the low success rate in UPSC exams in recent years.
