Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Mizoram on Saturday and will address the party members in the state and will discuss various organizational issues.
Shah, whowill visit the state for the first time will also inaugurate the North EastHandloom and Handicraft Exhibition in state's capital Aizawl.
The homeminister chaired a high-level meeting to review the current status of bordersecurity and measures to be taken to strengthen it further. The meeting wasalso attended by Home Secretary, Secretary (Border Management), SpecialSecretary (Internal Security) and Directors of General of Border SecurityForce, Sashastra Seema Bal, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Assam Rifles, alongwith other senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Sources inthe ministry said that the Home Minister stressed on government's ZeroTolerance policy towards terrorism, insurgency, corruption as well as smugglingof weapons, narcotics and cattle. Shah also directed the senior officials totake strict measures against these practices in the region.
The DGs havealso been instructed by Shah to identify all issues affecting border securityand submit a detailed action plan to the ministry in this regard.
Moreover,the NGO Coordination Committee of Mizoram has staged protest ahead of Amit Shah'svisit to the state against the Centre' s decision to go ahead with thecontentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill but later called off the protest aheadof his visit.
