Assam-Mizo Border: Ajmal Urges CM To Take Control Of Situation

As simmering tension continues to prevail on the Assam-Mizoram border after a violent clash erupted between the people of the two states, AIUDF President Badaruddin Ajmal has called for maintaining peace and harmony in the region.

In view of the incident, Ajmal requested Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the Union home ministry to take control of the situation by tomorrow.

The AIUDF President also urged CM Sonowal to vacate the area where 'Mizo people' have illegally infiltrated inside the Assam border.

Furthermore, Badaruddin Ajmal announced that all Assamese people who are in turmoil will be provided food tonight.

On Saturday night, several were injured and over a dozen huts were torched in a flare up of border dispute between the two states.

According to sources, the clashes reportedly started after some people from the Mizoram side torched some huts made by Lailapur residents on a disputed portion of the border between the two states.

Assam and Mizoram share a 165 km long boundary. Mizoram was part of Assam till 1972 when it became a union territory and a state in 1987.
