Mufti Khairul Islam – a veteran Islamic leader of Northeast India – died on Thursday in Nagaon. He was also the Aamir-e-Shariat of Northeast India, besides being the Vice-President of the All India Jamiat Ulema. Many people have expressed their grief over his death. His funeral has been scheduled for Thursday at 5:15 pm at Dohgaon.
Former Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi, tweeted highlighting the pious nature of the deceased leader. He added that being a person who generously helped the poor and the downtrodden, his death is a great loss for Assam.
The death of Mufti Khairul Islam, Amire Sworiat of NE is great loss for Assam. He was most respected pious leader, served the humanity throughout his life .I had high respect for him. Rendered Noble services to the poor n downtrodden. May Allah Grant peace to the departed soul.
