A drinking water project under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), built two years ago in Jungirkilla 2nd part of Parbatjhora, has failed to provide any clean water to the local people. The scheme, launched to bring piped water to every home, now lies in a broken state, and the villagers are still waiting for the promised supply.

The project, which comes under the department led by Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, worked only for a few days after completion. Soon after, the pipelines started bursting at different places, and the entire system stopped working. Since then, not a single drop of water has been supplied from the scheme.

Locals blame poor construction work and the use of low-quality materials for the failure. Even though people raised complaints during the construction, they say their concerns were ignored. The contractor continued using substandard pipes and parts, which led to frequent damage and leaks.

This has caused great disappointment among the residents. Many are angry that such a large amount of public money was spent, but the outcome has brought them no benefit. They have demanded that the government take urgent steps to repair the project and restart the water supply.
