Assam is heading for a complete bipolar politics in the Lok Sabha election as the ground information till late last night suggested that despite the rhetoric, the Congress and AIUDF in one side, while BJP and AGP are in the other side, are heading for alliance turning the poll more exciting.

The Congress and AIUDF are gravitating towards an alliance and by tomorrow the deal should be sealed, top sources from AIUDF have confirmed.

Similarly, the BJP has more or less finalized candidates for all the 11 seats leaving Koliabor, Barpeta and Dhubri to AGP. The formal seal of alliance shall take place after March 9, when the date for Poll is likely to be announced.

Till then both the BJP and AGP are allowed to continue to carry on the rhetoric to keep voters confused. The State BJP President Ranjeet Das himself is running an agenda against the alliance for his own ministerial gain but he is bound to be overruled by the Central leadership who wants to project a united NDA having the footprint in all the states of the country.

According to the AIUDF sources, the seat sharing for Karimganj and Dhubri seats are almost done and now bargaining is hard for the Barpeta seat. With Congress and AIUDF coming together, the fight for Nagaon, Barpeta, Mangaldoi, Koliabor, Guwahati, Dhubri and even Silchar would be wide open.

The post-Balakot development has almost forced Congress and AIUDF to come close for their own survival despite a strong difference. The vote share of the last election clearly shows that if they come together, the alliance can win Dhubri, Barpeta, Mangaldoi, Guwahati, Nagaon, Koliabor, Karimganj and even Silchar, which are however considered hard after the CAB.

The Congress and AIUDF leadership are meeting secretly and all the reservations are being removed so that the combination has a realistic chance of winning at least six of the 14 seats of Assam.

In Assam at this moment, the BJP is too strong and if the opposition remained disunited than the BJP is in the striking distance of getting 10 seats out of the 14. At this moment officially both Congress and AIUDF are mum on the seat-sharing but there is a flurry of activities in the past few days.
