COVID-19: Assam loses its eighth patient in 24 hours

Assam has lost its eight patient to the deadly coronavirus in last 24 hours.

19-year-old Monika Bhumji of Sivasagar succumbed to Covid-19 on Wednesday evening at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital. Bhumji was already suffering from anemia and sepsis.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, taking to this Twitter handle, said, "Sorry to inform that we lost a very young Monika Bhumij (19) to #COVID19. She had severe anemia and sepsis and was in the ICU of Jorhat Medical College after she was referred from Sivasagar. Doctors did their best but unfortunately, we couldn't save her".
