December 3rd to 5th has been declared dry through an order by the Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner  to prevent any possible untoward incident ahead of the first phase of panchayat election slated to be held on December 5 including the day of counting of votes on December 12.

"Dry days have been declared in Kamrup Metropolitan district from 3.00 pm of 03-12-2018 to 3.00 pm 05-12-2018 and the day of counting of votes which is fixed on 12-12-2018 till the process of counting is over," the order said.

Aimed at maintaining the peaceful environment during the panchayat elctions, the use or sale of liquor in all local liquor shops, imported liquor shops, warehouses and beer shops has been prohibited on the aforementioned date.

All bonded warehouse, IMFL shops, bars, hotels, clubs and outstill shops shall remain closed on the above mentioned date.

Violation of the order will attract appropriate legal punishment as per the order.
