Guwahati Central Jail Declared Containment Zone

Owing to many inmates of the Guwahati Central Jail getting infected by COVID-19, Kamrup Metro Administration has declared the said jail to be a containment zone.

It has defined the borders of the containment zone. To east, the limit will be the SSB Camp-Assam Police plot. To the west, the border will be the main gate.

On the northern side, Coffee Board's office will be the limit. And to the south, the road adjacent to the jail will be the extent.

Only yesterday, 19 inmates tested positive for the contagion. Earlier, peasant leaders Dharjya Konwar and Bitu Sonowal, both inmates of the said jail, also got infected.
