Four prisoners managed to escape from Lakhimpur district jail on Friday night.

The inmates have been identified as Rahul Deori, Papu Das, Loknath Pegu, and Pranab Baniya.

Papu Das was lodged in prison on charges of rape while the others were jailed for theft.

They escaped by climbing over the prison walls.
